Nightlife in Portorož

For a long time Portorož has been a well-known and modern town on the Slovenian coast. The name itself lets you know it is something special – a port of roses. With its many hotels, restaurants and bars, the town offers fun and relaxing experiences for all tastes. 

During the summer season, the town is the centre of tourism and fun. The town is lively 24 hours a day, offering dynamic and more relaxing options. You can have a laidback and calm vacation or take advantage of the various sports and rich cultural offer for an active holiday. Because of its sheltered location in the bay of Piran, Portorož has a mild Mediterranean climate. Spring begins in the middle of March and the bathing starts as soon as May – when the sea warms up to 20°C– and it can last as long as until the end of October. Portorož has had a long tradition in health tourism, as seawater and brine (highly concentrated seawater from the saltpans of Sečovlje) were used to heal various health issues already in the 13^thcentury. The average air temperature in August is 26°C, whereas in January it almost never goes below 5°C.

Portorož is also a popular congress centre with many national and international meetings.

The coast is very beautiful, the beaches well-tended and suitable for families with small children as well as for active sports enthusiasts. You can choose to spend your day by relaxing on the beach and bathing in the sea or you can try one of the many sports such as beach volley, rowing, SUP, acquagym and trekking.

Those who love adrenalin can spice up their vacation with an unforgettable panoramic flight (the airport is located 5 km from Portorož) or by jumping off a plane with a parachute.

In Portorož the fun never ends! Every year the theatre Avditorij organises the Melodies of the sea and the sun and there are many other events and festivals (such as the Festival of Slovenian film, the Festival of sparkling wine and other wine and gastronomy related events…). Don’t miss the Easter regatta, New year’s jump in the sea, the Rose garden and the promenade (flower exhibition), the market for Christmas and New Year’s, music evenings on Saturdays, Portorož night, ATP Challenger Slovenia open(tennis) and Internautica.

The best part of the day are the lively evenings and nights. Just an evening walk on the beach is a lovely experience, even more so the enchanting sunsets, and the bars on the beach have live music every day. Portorož is also famous for its excellent and fresh seafood and we mustn’t forget to mention the fantastic selection of beverages which will ensure unforgettable experiences.

One of the most famous bars is cocktail bar Alaya, where – besides cocktails – you can savour classic drinks, enjoy your breakfast and try salad menus, meat menus, natural smoothies and frappes. In the evenings the bar hosts acclaimed national and international DJs and the programme is enriched by dancers, hostesses and barmen. Paprika Club is also an elite nightclub with a great offer of drinks and a fantastic view of the sea and the setting sun. In Hoteli Bernardin you can choose among relaxing evenings: Slovenian evening on Thursdays, music evenings on Fridays and Saturdays and bingo night on Tuesdays.

For those who enjoy trying their luck with gambling, there are gambling halls and casinos, which are open 24 hours a day. You can try out slot machines or electronic roulettes and in the oldest Grand casino there are also classic table games.
