The former
Emona-Bernardin Hotels this year celebrate four decades of existence and,
simultaneously, also the jubilee of when the interesting building complex then
constructed was fitted with a contemporary art collection that was incomparable
with those normally associated with business premises. The collection containsm
a considered selection of graphic works of the most prominent Slovene artists
from the well-known Ljubljana school of graphics and others who carried the
name of Slovenia and Ljubljana into the international art space and would still
today be the pride of any museum of contemporary art.
An insight into the
Bernardin graphics collection (which for objective reasons is greatly
abbreviated in the exhibition) is an insight into the sixties and seventies of
the highest quality graphic production in the then Republic of Slovenia, and also Yugoslavia: many of the exhibited masters received
important awards and recognitions both at home and abroad. The tapestries of
three masters, France Mihelič, France Slana and Lojze Spacal, are also again
presented to the public after more than a decade and they give an insight into
only a small part of this then very popular art form.
You are cordially invited to the
exhibition of selected artworks by renowned artists to celebrate 40 years of
the Hotels Bernardin. Opening hours : Tuesday - Sunday
from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00; from 8.7. till 08.31.2016. Free
entry!
